“Art and the woods”?
Before launching this website and in the midst of figuring out my YouTube channel, I was listening to a lot of podcasts about starting an art business. One day I was in my car listening to a woman speak about the importance of finding your own brand, and what she called a “common thread” between all of your work. She mentioned that artists often needed help finding this connection, but it was usually something that persisted in your life for years prior, maybe even reaching into childhood. As a multi-passionate artist who never really felt like my body of work is ever cohesive, this advice really got my gears turning. What was my common thread?
I thought to myself about my art, and realized it wasn’t as simple as specific subject matter, it was the art itself and what it has always done for me, which is ground me when I’m feeling out of control. I always come back to it when I’m feeling anxious or sad or even happy and motivated. It feels extremely important to my soul, essential even…and this is also how I feel about spending time in the woods. It’s the only place I can truly re-center myself and feel clear-minded. Both art and the woods are key components of who I am as a human being, and when I combine my passion of creating art with inspiration from “my happy place”, that is when I can almost physically feel my soul being nourished…and when my art resonates with any of you…that means more to me that I could ever put in writing.
I hope you can see the influence of nature in everything I create. I hope it stirs something positive inside of you and speaks to your soul.
